With more and more companies and individuals pursuing green solutions in order to “save the world”, the question arises: How green are we?
METI's recent decision to treat biofuels as a source of greenhouse gases and require oil companies to cut emissions reveals that there is a gap
between the Kyoto Protocol’s “definition of green” (where bioethanol

Now it seems that the "Natural Resource" scare of the 70s is back on, hot on the heels of the failing Global Warming (later Climate Change) mania. The only thing is, this time they might be right...… Continue 続行
This is my first blog post here on Green ITers. I've had my account open since the beginning, but I have not made any real contributions since then. I have followed along enthusiastically via Twitter and LinkedIn, but always without interacting. I'm hoping to change that soon.
For any who are curious, I am not an IT professional as of right now. I am a computer science student and an avid fan of ecological conservation. While I have m
There seems to be a raging debate over whether global warming is real or not. I thought you might find these interesting reading, and I look forward to a great discussion about things that matter at our Feb Green Mondays session. See you there on the Fourth Monday of February!!

Welcome to a new month, a new year, and a new decade! It’s officially the second decade of the 21st century, and it seems the mood is for “cautious optimism”.
It is a natural desire to move on and put the mistakes of the Past behind us. However, in today’s modern cultural climate there are certainly at least two ways that negative thinking can disrupt positive growth: people obses… Continue 続行

The events of recent days, months and years have lead me to one conclusion which I feel is much more than a hypothesis, but more of an accurate assessment of facts. This all boils down to one thing in my mind:
"The Environmental Movement has been hijacked".
(For more on why I feel this way, please refer back to my posts on the ClimateGate implications on GreenIT movement and… Continue 続行

“Wildness and silence disappeared from the countryside, sweetness fell from the air, not because anyone wished them to vanish or fall but because throughways had to floor the meadows with cement to carry the automobiles which advancing technology produced. Tropical beaches turned into high-priced slums where thousand-room hotels elbowed each other for glimpses of once-famous surf not be… Continue 続行
Cop 15, really brought a very important topic to a place where it should have been, in the forefront. I really wonder when so many people are concerned about the issue why we still have to struggle to display our support to the cause, why activists are being beaten up by the police when they are simply showing their concern.
Why our leaders have to be told about the stark reality of climate change and global warming? Will they or their future generations not live on this planet? Are they and th… Continue 続行

THE Copenhagen climate summit is in chaos after poor countries walked out of negotiations en masse today.
The G77, a group which represents 130 developing countries, walked out because it is concerned the existing Kyoto protocol will be abandoned.
Australia's Climate Change Minister Penny Wong confirmed that organisers were trying to fix the problem and coax back the developing world.
Many countries at the UN climate summit want a brand new treaty to tackle climate change, but the developing… Continue 続行
Yet again, I'd like to encourage that people take in every piece of information they can afford to when making decisions about Climate Change and where to focus our energies in the "Green" and similar environmental movements.
That said, I must bring this video to your attention. It comes from a person with a possibly biased point of view (is there any argument which can be called truly unbiased, I think not, no one is perfect), but try to look past this at the points that Christopher Monckton m… Continue 続行

I've been interested in doing things that are environmentally friendly most of my life. I was a teenager when the first and second oil shocks of the 1970's took place, sending petrol and other energy prices soaring in the United States. With this finiteness of fossil fuel resources a part of my youth, I've been pretty cautious about the use of such resources for some time.
I do not own a car. From personal experience needing a car to get around in Scotland whilst serving in the U.S. Navy - and… Continue 続行
For those who may have missed it, ClimateGate occured Nov 17th, 2009 with the leaking of computer code, reports/charts, emails and other documents hacked by a small group of so called "patriots and climate skeptics" from the computer systems at a number of UN-funded academic & research institutions, most significant of which is the the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, England. The findings of the research at this primary research institution, among the others implicated, was origi… Continue 続行

Let’s put the whole idea of “man-made climate change” and “global warming” aside for a moment. Using hydrocarbons (fossil fuels) worked well to get the industrialized world to this stage but these are limited resources. Now we are aware of new technologies, and the technologies with most immediate potential are renewable energies. Renewable energies rely on power alread… Continue 続行

The grieving process, sometimes known as the 5 Stages of Loss, is a psychological term attributed to documented studies regarding coping mechanisms. The five stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
You might notice something strange: when some people talk about environmental issues it sounds like they are in a stage of the grieving process.… Continue 続行
